Living in the city is to become attractive and affordable again, especially for young families with children. Therefore the urban design concept provides a densed city district, that can also be realized stepwise, with 600 variable condominium units for a fallow area in Dresden-Leuben. A central green area with open spaces for a variety of leisure uses connects the Berthold-Haupt-Straße with the landscape of the Elbe River floodplain. The residential area is accessed through four dead-end roads and a crossing network of cycle tracks and foot paths. The intermediate building plots in the size of about 24 x 30 m form smaller neighborhood structures with private garden courtyards and traffic-free paths for each of the four residential units. Five different one- to three-story house typolopies permit a flexibility of use. A division of the buildings into different apartment sizes as well as an individual division into working and living spaces is possible without any expensive modifications.
